Heading east from Vancouver the trans Canada highway leads to the small town of Hope. Just outside of Hope the pavement spiderwebs, choices present themselves and travelers are faced with a decision. Where do we go from here?

My aunt once told me she’d like to live in Hope, she said she liked the sound of that. I immediately envisioned the town; the truck stops and gas stations; but that’s not what she meant. These days I’d like to live in hope too. There is so much going on in the world right now I think we’d all like to live in hope for awhile.

I watch way too much news – I’m caught up in the tension building around the world but most specifically in the United States. As a Canadian I care about what happens south of our border – I care about the friends and family I have down there, I care about the future of their country. I care about the influence the USA has on Canada and the example America sets to the world. I care. And I live in hope.

The presidential race culminates on Tuesday – in three days polls will close and ballot counting will commence and everyone will live in hope for a moment. Everyone. Regardless of how anyone voted everyone will hold their breath and visit hope.

Just outside of hope the pavement spiderwebs – where do we go from here?

There you go, visiting my consciousness again. Your words ring true for many of us, looking for hope, or any inkling that community is still alive and thriving! I search for that reason to turn the page to see the next chapter, but where is it?

Lesley – I think today is the reason – family, friendship, sunshine and hope (for what I’m not sure of either but I lean into it anyway)❤️
