I like all types of dogs – I’m a confirmed dog lover, big ones, little ones, purebred or mutt, I love them all.   I’ve enjoyed the company of a wide assortment of four-legged companions over the years but only recently have I had anything to do with doodles.  I’m to understand that a doodle is a cross breed, a genetic masterpiece, a designer dog.  Not to be confused with a mutt which is a cross breed of undetermined lineage, a canine grab bag.

Doodles come in a variety of shapes and sizes – it seems you can doodle almost anything; you can Labra- a doodle, Cocka- a doodle and even Snicker- a doodle.  The ideal doodle will not shed, it will be good natured and smart.  But genetics are tricky business, a crap shoot. The designer of the labradoodle was taking a huge chance when they introduced the lab to the doodle – the potential for a shedding wanderlust was great – the mixture was a leap of faith of humongous proportions but it seems to have paid off.

I have recently been introduced to my new grand-puppy, a doodle of the Labra sort.  My daughter and her family researched, searched and purchased the most adorable, most good natured, most cutest of labradoodles from the United States of America.  Yup, my new grand-puppy is a Yankee Doodle and I have rediscovered puppy love in a big way.
