Canada Post delivered a parcel from Amazon.ca yesterday. I have no idea why I held my breath as I opened it I had intimate knowledge of what was contained within the envelope. My hands shook as I pulled the contents out of the package and a wave of something I wasn’t expecting hit me. I found myself holding a piece of my heart and it suddenly looked vulnerable and exposed and all the giddy excitement I’d been feeling as I’d waited for the books to arrive vanished.
I think I’ve been so focused on the product I shelved the emotion behind it – I have been dealing with words not feelings – and now those feelings are refusing to be ignored and the words are out there… I hope they fulfill their intended purpose – that they help someone else feel less alone as they walk their own path toward surviving.
