The pilot project allowing dogs on the promenade is going well, according to the people walking the dogs. But as with most parties this one has a pooper (actually more than one pooper). These poopers are consumed with the parties doing the pooping and are kicking up a stink in the local newspaper and at city council meetings – voicing their objections about dogs on the promenade to anyone who cares to listen (as in, not to me).
There is a hum among the people walking the dogs that these party poopers have actually been planting the poop they are complaining about. (I have not noticed an unclaimed turd on any of the many walks I’ve taken along the promenade – not one). The poopers apparently take pictures of the poop they claim to find and email the photographic evidence, with their letters of complaint, to city council. (Rumor has it their emails go unanswered).
I like a conspiracy theory as well as the next guy but the notion of party poopers playing in some other party’s poop smells a little fishy. It seems an extreme measure to try to make a point, one can only hope the pictured poop has been purchased at a novelty store (like plastic props used in photo shoots; ice cream that doesn’t drip, froth on beers that never disappears and poop that doesn’t stink).
I’m sorry for these party poopers, sorry they have enough time in their day to ponder poop, to plan, plant and complain about it – it seems a shitty way to spend your time. But here’s the scoop – I know there are people who don’t pick up after their dogs, they annoy us who do probably more than they annoy you – they are ruining things for everyone. The majority of dog walkers are courteous, friendly and responsible – many of us pay taxes in this city, taxes whose proceeds go toward the upkeep of the promenade you have been enjoying without us all these years.Give the pilot a chance.
The problem is that dogs were never allowed before and now they are. Has nothing to do with the poop. It’s a game of haves and have nots. It gives people an opportunity to vent on life’s little game changes.
As for the poop pics, wouldn’t be surprised if they are pictures of poop from a distant area. I can’t see the ‘against dog people’ cleaning up someone else’s shit, ah poop, so I suspect the poop is pooped on a similar surface elsewhere and the poopy photos are sent to city council.
And the poop poopers, ah complainers roll on.
